Sometimes it's overwhelming being the mom of 4 kids (17, 12, 9, and 4)
at home and working full-time. It's especially overwhelming when more than one
of them is sick~ throws you off your game a little!
It's been a long week. It started last Saturday with Rescue picking Jackson up and taking him to the hospital at about 5:45 in the morning- Out of control asthma, probably because of the weather change, followed by some sort of viral bug that was affecting his upper airway. Not the way to start the weekend!- It kind of rolled all week- Jackson seemed to get better, however by Wednesday both Macey and Briley were sick. We are in the middle of District playoffs, dance practice for competitions, and I am teaching an extra ESOL class- Let's just say it was a fun week! We did win our game Thursday and that was exciting! Jackson did recover quickly and we were so relieved that he is again "under control!" Macey and Briley have taken the last 3 days to recover and we are REALLY excited that tomorrow is an off day for us!
I say this at the middle of almost every month- but where does the time go? Jackson is doing so much right now, I can hardly keep up! He is writing, and cutting, and making books- He loves school, and he loves to read! He stays so busy "creating" his artwork, or drawing in his journal. He also is growing a plant right now and it is amazing to watch him water and care for it! I am so excited that he gets to come to school with me next year! I can't believe he will be 5 in MAY!!! It just does not seem possible.
Today, at church someone shared these 3 scriptures with me.
Jeremiah 29:11 - "For I know the plans I have for you," declares the
Lord, "I have good plans for you, not plans to hurt you. I will give you
hope and a good future."
Matthew 5:14 - You are the light that gives light to the word. A city that is built on a hill cannot be hidden.
Proverbs 16:3 - Depend on the Lord in whatever you do, and your plans will succeed.
They were as always, right on time. I know that there are great things promised for me- and my family. I know that on a daily basis God's mercy and grace is shown all around us. Our future is built on the relationship we build with our own children each day. And it's overwhelming at times! 2 girls in dance, 2 boys in basketball- and practices everyday of every week! Jap and Macey also take Honor classes, so it seems we have been burning the midnight oil quite a bit this year. But at the end of the day, it all seems so worth it. But we're tired! It's a season I was told today, - one that years from now we will miss. Although I had to chuckle because Jackson will still be with us when I'm 60! But I knew what she was getting at.
As I have thought of those three scriptures today, while we attended Jackson's basketball game, worked on yearbook edits, and finished a Competency 6 portfolio for a class I am taking, I couldn't help to think how blessed we are. That we do have a great future, that we are a light for so many, and that what we attempt usually does succeed. God is never far that is for SURE!
I will try and post some pictures tomorrow! I am in awe of how big my kids are getting!
Here's to a healthy week!
